Sell Yourself at job interviews - understanding employer's perspective

Type of Abstract (select): Book Presentation

Abstract (max. 250 words):
There is an ongoing, intense request from students to receive training about job interviews & exam situations. Unfortunately, most university curriculums are not containing such education. However, statistics show that a decision is made within the first 2-3 minutes in case of 80% of the interviews are longer than 30 minutes in general...

Hungary, especially Budapest became a multinational environment, providing plentiful opportunities for people abroad. However, foreigners don’t understand Hungarian culture in-depth and make terrible mistakes without even recognizing them. Just like Hungarians if they go abroad. We teach students how to act and react properly in such life-determining settings both if they stay as an alien or if they leave as a Hungarian.

University students expect seniors to be objective all the time with them. However, if there is a selection process, or when 6-700 students try to pass the same subject, it is not the case. Behavior, dress, cover letter, or just an email address can easily put them in the “no pile” based on unconscious bias.

On top of it, most of the applicants fail because they do not get the main point: almost every question is asking for something else than the question means grammatically.

We could create a clear format that helps to understand the real meaning.

Even though this course is proposed for medical school, we accept students from other faculties. The curriculum became so fortunate that we have success stories from medical doctors through graphic designers to soccer coaches.

Traditional Easter Eggs: an unorthodox method for polishing medical doctors' manual skills. (Accepted)

Type of Abstract (select): Paper presentation

Abstract (max. 250 words):
Traditional Easter egg dying is a way more complex activity than ordinary people would think about. This basic recognition gave the idea to create a university elective course, which might help to polish manual skills for medical students through a dramatically alternate way they got used to.
The aim of the course is to develop and polish manual skills through alternative ways, which causes not just pleasure but creates artwork. Besides manual skills, this course helps to develop patience, focus, precision, and tolerance of monotony. It is well-known that widely acknowledged doctors were also skilled in different fields of arts (graphics, music, painting, sculpting, etc.). Just as Prof. Dr. János Szentágothai, a celebrated and determinate figure of the Medical School at the University of Pécs.
Within the frames of the course, students can polish their manual skills by absorbing several aspects of traditional Easter egg-dying methods. Activities include engraving and carving with a professional engraver; Syringe and medical needle use; wax melting; precision wax applying to the uneven surface; precision painting; acidic etching. On top of it, created artworks can be exhibited as well.
